Product Description

Battle for a Broken Heart is the memoir of Nicholas Meadows. Nick was physically and sexually abused by his birth mother throughout his childhood and into adolescence. During his unique journey and battle for healing, Nick allows the reader access into his most private thoughts and feelings. This book is a powerful human interest story - a reminder of how faith and love can accomplish anything. It also includes a useful section devoted to practical ways of coping with and overcoming the effects of abuse, such as insomnia, nightmares, depression, shame, etc. While continuing to shine a light on the devastation caused by incest, abuse and neglect, Nick's rare story has the power to nurture the soul and heal the wounded.

Courageous and inspiring 5 by .. Dawn ()
This book was very well written, with inspirational quotes throughout that pertained to the author's thoughts as the story unfolded. It really helped me to understand what he went through and how he got through it. This is a difficult topic to read about, but what I liked about this book is that it shares as much, if not far more, about the author's healing process, and his ability to forgive and find healing and go on. With God's help, he has turned some terrible circumstances into a life of caring for others and wanting to help them through their own healing as well. It takes a courageous person to share these things with such openness and honesty, and I commend the authors for a job well done.

Surprisingly captivating 4 by .. Joy Johnson (Eastern Connecticut)
The professed purpose of this book is to show a path for healing. While it deals specifically with sex based child abuse, the principals apply to almost any kind of abuse at any age. It also gives the reader an authentic look inside the world of incestual pedophilia. There are details that would be difficult to conjure had one not lived the experience. When a child is abused from their earliest memories, there would be no context against which that child might measure the experiences. Normal to such a child would certainly be much different than normal to a child in a non-abusive family. This book handles the nebulous nature of "normal" exceptionally well. The book has value on many levels. It uplifts the spirit for Christians. It shows a path to healing for the abused, and it's just flat out a page-turning good read - unexpectedly so - for everyone else. It's probably the same brain function that makes us slow down to stare at car crashes, or peer into lit windows in the dark of night. Ultimately it's societal medicine that actually tastes good!
